Ways to Consume Marijuana Extract

Explore the many ways for you to consume your favorite Marijuana Extract

August 2021

The best thing about marijuana extracts is the fact that they’re so diverse. The sky’s the limit when it comes to cannabis extracts and how one can consume them. So what are the ways to consume marijuana extract?

Cannabis concentrates (aka extracts) can be used in vape pens, vaporizers, dab rigs, and even alongside some fresh cannabis flower. If you want to know all about the different ways you can consume THC concentrates, then continue reading below.

Vaping THC Oil

Vaping is possibly the most popular way to consume marijuana extracts. That’s because vaporizers are discreet, powerful, and easy to use.

Vaping usually involves two parts—a battery and a cartridge filled with THC oil. That THC oil is either distillate, or decarboxylated sauce or budder—meaning that it’s super clean, pure, and potent. To use a vape, all it takes is one click of a button, or sometimes just an inhale, to start getting lifted.

The two main types of vapes that people use are either disposables or THC-filled cartridges.

Disposable VapesPyramid Disposable

Disposable THC pens are one of the best entry points for people who want to get into marijuana extracts. Not only are they super easy to use, but they’re usually the best bang for the buck. All it takes to use a disposable vape pen is to take it out of the packaging and start inhaling.

Once the THC oil is finished, all you need to do is throw it away—simple as that. All disposable THC vapes come with a charged battery that will last the entire lifespan of the THC oil. With disposables, there’s no worrying about having a battery charged—they’re ready to go.

Pre-filled Vape Cartridges

Pre-filled THC vape cartridges are small tanks that are filled with THC-rich oil. To use a cartridge, one needs to connect it to a compatible battery. That means that before you buy a pre-filled THC oil cartridge, you need to have a battery. The most common type of battery for THC oil pens are 510-threaded batteries. Most of the time, they’re just called 510 batteries, and they have the proper threading for most THC oil cartridges. These batteries are pretty inexpensive, small, and consist of one button. Once the pre-filled cartridge is threaded onto the 510 battery, it just takes a click of a button to start using.

There are other batteries on the market, such as the PAX battery. However, PAX batteries are only compatible with PAX era pods. These pods are THC-oil-filled cartridges that click into a PAX battery. A PAX THC oil pen works mostly the same as a 510, except the batteries have a few more features.

If you like to do everything yourself, then you can also get a vape oil refill. Vape oil refills are pure THC distillate in a small glass syringe that can be used to refill a cartridge. However, that cartridge needs to be refillable since not all cartridges can be used more than once.

You can find reliable empty cartridges for a low price or use your favorite compatible vape cartridge.

Dabbing Solid Concentrates

When people think of concentrates, they’re usually thinking about dabbing. Dabbing consists of vaporizing solid cannabis concentrates like budder, sauce, or live resin.

These concentrates are much different than the THC oils found in cartridges and disposable vape pens. Usually, they’re much thicker and more viscous depending on the concentrate. For example, budder concentrate has the look and consistency of butter. Other concentrates like sauce or live resin have a texture that’s more like marmalade.

There’s no way that any of these types of cannabis concentrates would be able to function inside of a THC oil pen. That’s why these concentrates are dabbed by using either a dab rig or wax pen.

A dab rig looks like a bong, but it’s for vaporizing cannabis concentrate. Instead of having a bowl for flower, dab rigs have a nail or a banger. A nail or a banger is a quartz or ceramic bowl that’s heated to incredible temperatures using a blow torch. Once the nail or banger is hot enough (350-500°F), a dab of concentrate is placed inside.

The cannabis concentrate made up of THC, terpenes, and flavonoids—gets instantly vaporized. Most people enjoy using a dab rig because of how powerful and tasty the resulting vapor is. However, some people are put off by the amount of equipment and effort it takes to use a dab rig.

Wax Pens

Wax pens are sort of the portable and easy-to-use version of a dab rig. Instead of having a blow torch and a bong, you have only a large vape. Wax pens don’t have a cartridge but an exposed coil (aka an atomizer) to heat up the concentrate. For example, a dab of a concentrate, like live resin, is placed directly on the coil and then vaporized.

Unlike THC oil pens, wax pens are not the most discreet, but they do allow for dabbing on the go.

Smoking

Although concentrates are usually used on their own, they can also act as a topper on cannabis flower. That means that a small bit of cannabis concentrate can be layered inside of a joint or atop a packed bowl. However, not all marijuana extracts can be smoked because the more runny a concentrate is, the less suitable it is to use with flower. That’s why budder is the perfect concentrate to give any joint or bowl an extra kick.

Find Your Favorite Method

With so many different concentrates and so many different methods, it can be challenging to know which one is the best for you. Everyone has their own preferences, and each method has its own unique advantage. If you’re just starting out with cannabis concentrates, we recommend using a THC oil pen. Their ease of use, potency, and discretion is perfect for most. However, you’ll need to get your hands on only the highest-quality THC oil, like those from Pyramid. Pyramid uses only the most cutting-edge extraction techniques to produce the purest, cleanest, and safest cannabis concentrates on the market.

If you’re in the state of Michigan or Colorado, then you’re in luck because Pyramid cartridges and disposable vapes can be found in many dispensaries in either state. If you’re ready to elevate your cannabis game and get the finest concentrates in the USA, then Pyramid thc oil is for you.
